Today began at 6.30 am, with a procession of half-asleep family people singing "Happy Birthday," pitifully off-key. Rapid-fire opening of carefully wrapped gifts ensued, along with a call from one altogether too cheery individual (although everyone here was impressed... mad points, yo). After that, I went to bed... crazy dreams, those.
Re-awoke at 11, showered, pulled on a pair of beat-up jeans and my old police academy t-shirt, thinking that by "getting ready for school," my mam meant getting ready AT HOME. No such luck. I was out roaming the town in said attractive outfit, purchasing everything anybody could ever want if they were to set out on their own to a completely unknown location. My apologies to anybody who saw me... but if you're that kid who walked up to me in the shampoo aisle, said "hey, how you doin? Meghan, right?" then walked away, WHO ARE YOU?!?!
When we got home again with much stuff, there was a message on the machine from the woman who machine-quilted my quilt... reader's digest version: the quilt is now here! It looks marvelous, I am muy muy happy with it, thank you Celeste. This quilt will be going to SOU with me, so all of you who will be there as well, don't worry, you will see this magical quilt.
Back to the Aging Queen.... at ~5.45, Anya got home, showered, and we all left for Shoji's, where the first half of Birthday Event #1 (or is it #2, technically? I'm lost) took place, complete with plastic tiaras and onion chunks flying everywhere. Once the food had been dished out and consumed, the group of rowdy 15-yr-olds (followed at a distance by Mam, Dad, and myself) descended upon the unsuspecting peoples of Pearl St. Ice Cream Parlour... it was sheer madness. Or at least it seemed that way... I hadn't gotten my nap, so it might've been pretty sedate, but it was still too much for me to process.
And now, here I sit, eyes glazing quickly from combination exhaustion and benadryl, saying... "oh, there's more, don't you worry." Cheers!
